Isra University Alumni Association (IUAA) organized one-day career counselling session on 6th October 2016, for the final year students of MBBS and BDS. This event was conducted to guide the students with regards to their aspirations and to suggest the right path for them. The guest speaker of the day was Dr Khalil Almani and the president of IUAA, Dr Walliullah Kazi, was the chief guest of the event.
A total participation of 160 students was recorded on the day from the departments of MBBS and BDS. Students were highly active and energetically participated throughout the event. Faculty members of different departments also joined the session.
The seminar started with the recitation of Holy Quran by Dr Mashkoor which was followed by a brief introduction of IUAA by the host Ms Madiha Baloch. Speaker of the seminar, Dr Almani started the session with his own life experiences to better relate to the position of the graduating students. He shared different tools, techniques and tactics of professional planning which students can implement in their life to ensure a successful, prosperous future. By using interactive activities, practical examples, and a bit of persuasion, he was able to help students in identifying their areas of interest.
In his words, “You all are now going to step in the professional life, it’s high time you get serious and decide what is best for you.” Reminding the students of what the actual aim of life should be he went on saying, “You may choose any field, either it is cardiology, neurology or pathology, your aim must be to serve the humanity. This white coat will earn you respect but you are expected to reciprocate the same.”
The session concluded with a question answer session where the students candidly shared their problems and queries with the speaker.
